Communication Systems, Campaign Development, and Multi-State Brand Storytelling

As Hands of Heartland expanded across regions, their communications needs expanded with them — more programs, more audiences, more stories, and more coordination behind the scenes. What began as creative support grew into a year-round partnership focused on building structure, clarity, and consistency across how the organization communicates internally and externally.

This wasn’t a single campaign engagement. It became an embedded creative role supporting planning, storytelling, and execution across channels, regions, and formats.

Editorial Publications & Newsletter Systems

A core component of the work included developing and writing editorial newsletter publications — shaping them not as announcements, but as structured storytelling pieces. Layout systems, content frameworks, and recurring features were established to create consistency while allowing each edition to reflect current programs and people.

Each publication balanced clarity, warmth, and readability, giving stakeholders meaningful insight into the organization’s work.

Strategy, Planning & Communication Structure

Early work centered on listening and mapping — understanding how information moved through the organization and how it reached families, partners, and community audiences. From there, we developed year-long content and campaign planning frameworks to support seasonal initiatives, recognition efforts, and program storytelling.

The shift was intentional: from reactive materials to structured communication cycles supported by editorial planning and repeatable formats.

Social Platform Development & Voice

Social media platforms were built and written from the ground up, establishing voice, structure, and visual direction across channels. Rather than isolated posts, the approach focused on platform identity — consistent tone, recognizable visual language, and message alignment with broader campaigns and publications.

Content systems were created to support ongoing posting while maintaining cohesion with newsletter and campaign storytelling.

Campaign & Video Narrative Development

Campaign work extended into messaging and video campaign writing, including concept development and script frameworks to support outreach and awareness initiatives. Narrative structure and message clarity guided each piece, ensuring alignment across written, visual, and video formats.

Campaign elements were designed to function as part of a larger communication ecosystem, not standalone efforts.

Multi-State Brand Photography

Visual storytelling was built through original brand photography captured across multiple states and program locations. Rather than relying on stock imagery, we developed a living photo library grounded in real environments, real teams, and real moments.

Photography direction, travel planning, and on-site coordination were handled as part of the creative scope, ensuring visual consistency and authenticity across campaigns, publications, and social platforms.

Creative direction was paired with operational coordination — managing travel logistics, shoot planning, asset needs, and cross-team communication tied to campaigns and content production. Internal and external communication tools were developed to help teams produce materials more efficiently while maintaining brand continuity.

The result was not just better materials, but smoother execution.

Impact & Continuity

With editorial systems, social platforms, photography libraries, and campaign frameworks in place, communications became more coordinated and recognizable across regions. Teams gained practical tools and structure, and audiences experienced clearer, more consistent storytelling.

The work continues to function as a living communication system — designed to grow alongside the organization and support the people behind the mission.
